Who, What and Why?

What do we mean by innovation?

There are lots of ways to define innovation. For us, at Marie Curie it means improving our existing fundraising asks & products and creating brand new ones that attract a diverse audience and grow out income.

Why are we innovating?

Fundraising innovation exists to help us grow and future proof our income,  respond to changing supporter needs and expectations and achieve our mission of Better End of Life for All.

Meet the team...

Gemma Rawlins

Hello – I am Gemma the Senior Innovation Manager in the Marie Curie fundraising team. I have spent most of my career in the Fundraising Innovation space. I love testing new ways fundraising ideas and really enjoy getting to know the motivations and behaviours behind our fundraising supporters. When I am not being a Senior Innovation Manager I love to swim, read and draw. I also really enjoy museums or going to explore old spooky buildings.  I also enjoy eating roast dinners and Haribo Tang Fastics (not at once)

Will Bauckham

I’m Will and I’ve recently joined the Marie Curie Innovation Team. My favourite thing about working in Innovation is the ability to create, try something new and develop new and exciting products for our supporters. Outside of work, I’m very active and most weekends will involve either playing football, running or cycling.

Alex thomson

I'm Alex, and I've been working at Marie Curie since 2018; first starting off in Mass Participation stewardship before moving in to the Innovation Team at the start of 2020. Since then I have been working on various projects including the Celebrity Virtual Quizzes and GDA Reimagined. I love talking to our supporters, finding new audiences and new ways of engaging our existing ones while making sure they have the best possible experience with Marie Curie. I am very interested in the opportunities that new technologies can provide for the sector. Outside of work I can normally be found gaming (board & video), bouldering or enjoying a craft beer.
